SEA ISLAND
The pride of the Hausamman + Moos 1811 collection is definitely Sea Island cotton.
Known as “gossypium barbadense” or “black seed”, it is one of the most precious and rare cotton varieties in the world. Discovered in the early eighteenth century in the British West Indies, it has a production equal to 0.0004% of the world production long-staple cotton, currently concentrated in areas that are tropical paradises, where the humidity is constant and the dry seasons are alternate with rainy ones.
The low temperature range between daytime and nighttime hours in the cultivation phase prevents the cotton from undergoing thermal shock and this causes the plants to ripen in a more homogeneous and linear way, giving the cotton itself a decidedly high quality.
